Natural materials - sticks, gumnuts, leafy twigs, bark and leaves - are the perfect partner for clay in a preschool classroom.

Display a selection of inviting natural materials on the table with the clay.  

Even better - go on a nature hunt with the children beforehand, and let the children make their own selections and collections.

Let the children explore the delightfully sensory qualities of the clay, and experiment with different ways of using the natural materials.

 I'm always amazed at what they create.
