How much fun can you have with a length of rope (or two)?
Or perhaps I should say "how many children can you fit on a length of rope (or two)?"
Rope would have to be one of our all time favorite 'loose parts' in the preschool playground.
The children use it to create their buildings, to set traps, to tie things up, to tie each other up, to pull things along, to play tug of war, to make pulley systems and to create their own play equipment.
If you haven't already tried it, I highly recommend giving your children a big old length of rope and stepping back to see what they do with it.
I wrote about how we created our rope bridge here.
Juliet from I'm a Teacher Get Me Outside Here writes about big rope play here.
You can read about the rope tree at Beansprouts Preschool here.
