revisiting our wooden block houses

I've lost count of the number of irresistible play ideas from Irresistible Ideas for Play Based Learning that have made their way to preschool.  But I can tell you that the idea that just keeps on giving is these wooden block houses.

We made them over a year ago with the children, and they are still going strong as a versatile prop for building and imaginative play:.

They turn up in the most unexpected places:

Here is the post from Irresistible Ideas for Play Based Learning that provided inspiration for our wooden block houses.

And here is how we created our own.  Isn't the blogosphere a wonderful, inspiring, generous place to be?

Has a blog recently inspired you to try out a new playful idea?

  1. I am sharing this with my husband, so I can enlist his help. He loves doing things like this...which is great for me :)

  2. This is awesome! I'll have to check with the carpenter if he has wood scraps lying around!!

  3. Every time I visit blogs I ALWAYS see an idea that I add to our "to try" list. So much creativity and inspiration in the blogosphere.

  4. Yeah ... They're still cool aren't they Jenny!
    Donna :) :)
