I'm a sucker for using natural materials in play so this week I was drawn to the irresitible natural blocks created from tree branches over at Share & Remember.
Making blocks from natural materials is a cheap and relatively simple way to add interesting and inviting open-ended materials for your child's play. We have cut logs and stumps into tree cookies:
Live near a beach? Driftwood can be cut, sanded and oiled to create beautiful blocks like these ones:
Even bamboo can be cut into sections to become attractive stackable props in the block area:
