when life hands you lemons

With a lemon tree positively dripping with fruit, it was the perfect time to whip up some lemonade with the children.

Here is our "Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy" Lemonade Recipe:

You will need:

Approx. 12 lemons
300 g of castor sugar
8 cups of water

Squeeze the lemons

Our kids would squeeze fruit all day until the cows come home.  If you collect enough hand juicers (cheap from op shops) this is a recipe that can actively involve quite a few children.

Drain the lemon juice through a strainer
You can't be having pips in your juice!

Add the sugar and the water

Give it all a really good stir

Pour into Pitchers
Refrigerate and serve chilled

We also added some mint to ours from the herb garden.

Tangy and refreshing!

  3. "Don't say no, have a go, It's easy peasy lemon squeezy" is something Sherry and I say to the children all the time ... So WE WON'T say no to your idea Jenny and we WILL have a go!
    Thanks for the recipe!
    Donna :) :)

  4. That lemon juicer looks so pretty. I'm definitely going to be looking out for one in the op shops.

  5. Princess LOVES to squeeze, but wasn't keen on her orange juice. I am yet to find out how the blood orange juice goes down, as she didn't like the oranges.

But THIS is the reason I have insised to Dadda that we put a lemon tree in the yard. When we do the yard (which we have finally started, veggie patch in the process of being dug up, spinach, rocket, bok choy and purple bean seeds planted. And a special girl got her own blueberry bush!).
